-
A Christian Church, by which
we mean that our message is that "Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
the living God." We have no creed but Christ Jesus. He
alone is our Lord and Savior. The church belongs to Him.
We have no authority to change the teachings of the bible, to make
our own rules, not even to set the rules for membership in His
Church. Christ is King and we don't get to vote on the rules.
-
A Church devoted to unity.
We seek and pray to be one in Christ with
all others that He calls His own, who are called according to His
purpose.
-
A Church seeking to restore.
As much as possible, we imitate the
New Testament precedents. (Read the Book of Acts) which is why our
mode of baptism is by immersion, why we meet on the first day of the
week, why our communion is celebrated at least every Lord's Day, why our
leaders are called Elders and why our preaching is about Christ; His life
and teachings and why our prayers are in His name.
-
A Church built upon the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.
Ephesians 2:19, 20. We
know about Christ because of the faithful testimony of the apostles.
-
A Church seeking "a spirit of wisdom and
revelation in the knowledge of him..." Ephesians
1:17 Christian faith requires the best
our minds can give, we are called to be transformed by the renewing
of our mind so that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
We
are therefore a thinking church.
-
A Church that rejoices in the Lord.
We seek to put on the garment of praise. We
rejoice and praise and pray and love and serve from the heart.
We are excited about what Christ has done for us and are unashamed
of the gospel and not embarrassed to let our excitement show.
-
A Church seeking to share.
We seek to share our faith and love with as many as we can reach and
our possessions as individuals who know that all we have belongs to
God to be used for His purposes.
-
A Church that is independent.
We elect our own leaders, call and support our own
ministers, decide where our mission money will go and own our own
property. We have no national or international hierarchy to which we report or send money. That said we are not
isolationists. We fellowship with and work with other churches
to accomplish tasks too large for one church alone.
-
A Church seeking to grow.
We want to grow, because we are under Christ's commission to
disciple the world. The task has not been completed yet, so we
are renewing our commitment to preaching, baptizing and teaching as
many as we can till Christ comes again.
